Mariko Leilani Buchholz
Originally from Japan and raised on the Big Island of Hawai’i, Mariko moved to California in 2001 to attend college. She graduated from Sonoma State University with degrees in Kinesiology and Business Administration.
During her senior year, Mariko started riding and racing road bikes, which led her to work at a local bike shop. The job was a meant to be a short term gig, but fate intervened and she met her future husband. Together they opened their own bike shop, Echelon Cyclery in 2008, and it’s still going strong today! Small business ownership has taught her valuable lessons about the dynamics of exchanging goods, services, time, and money.
Over 20 years of living and cycling in Sonoma County has developed a deep appreciation for all the area has to offer. During the process of searching, touring, bidding, and working with her REALTOR® on their first home purchase, Mariko knew that real estate suited her entrepreneurial nature and gave her the opportunity to exercise her resourcefulness, empathy, and attention to detail.
